On Friday 19th October 2007, Bradshaw Beavers went bowling, where 21 Beavers all took part in a very enjoyable night of bowling with some good scores achieved.

During the summer Beavers visited Ogden Water reservoir, where in teams they used their map and clue hunting skills to locate and place on a map a number of places around the reservoir. This event was attended by the District Commissioner and proved to be a fun evening with all teams being very good at finding the clues on the map.

2007 has seen the Bradshaw Beavers involved in a number of activities throughout the year. The following highlights some key ones:

This year’s summer trip involved 18 Beavers, 8 Leaders and Parents visiting the National Coal Mining museum near Wakefield. The Beavers had a chance to see for themselves mining through the ages by going down into an actual mine via a shaft the size of Blackpool Tower.

 

This proved to be a big hit with the Beavers, who constantly asked the Guide varied and numerous questions. In addition to this all Beavers loved the opportunity to take part in activities that could be found in the various workshops.

 

Finally, the Beavers loved the shop and spent ages making their purchases. Comments from the Reception and Shop staff who said the Beavers were extremely well behaved and mannered.

2007 saw for the first time the whole of the Bradshaw Group get together at the same camp. The camp proved extremely successful with 13 Beavers attending, taking part in varied activities that included:

· Camping in tents

· Shooting

· Archery

· Backwoods cooking

· Fire lighting using flint and steel

· Wood collecting

· Following a trail

· Attending a show around a camp fire

·  Renewing their promises at sunrise

Beavers meet Hannibal the Bull Snake

Friday 26th October 2007 saw the Beavers come face to face with a Bull Snake called Hannibal, All Beavers thoroughly enjoyed the talk about the snake, asking numerous questions. The talk concluded with all Beavers taking the opportunity to touch and feel the snake.

Beavers use their imagination

November saw the Beavers take up the challenge completing the Imagination badge sponsored by the Jetix television channel. Beavers had to design their own super hero, describe their powers and make a model using old bits and bobs.
